what’s fascinating about this special airing on KVOS-TV is that it’s a CBC production. However, KVOS ch 12 beat the CBC to the punch getting a TV station local to the Vancouver/Victoria/Bellingham airea on air first. There were no other local TV broadcasters in this region in 1953. With this special launching ch 12, Rogan Jones’ KVOS-TV could boast that it was Vancouver’s first! It would be a short while after the Queen’s coronation that Vancouver’s new CBC TV outlet – CBUT-TV ch 2 would debut. I’m sure had ch 2 been on air at this time, the CBC portion of the special wouldn’t have aired on KVOS-TV. However, coverage via it’s affiliation with CBS & DuMont networks would have still aired. Welcome to Brian Walks who has some great momento’s & treasures in his Pacific northwest media collection.
